International Street Children's Day was set up as a platform to help raise the voices of homeless children and their advocates, and to force the world to listen to their terrible plights.
A child should be at home, warm and happy, and should be able to get an education to have a good hope in the future. Those are not privileges, those are rights, but homeless children do not have those rights. They grow much faster than they need to, they face the heat and cold of sidewalks, the dangers of nature and people, hunger, desperation, and illness. Every child is our child - every child is our responsibility.
Let's remember to help those in need during this day and every day, their future and our future depend on what we do now to help them.
