Human Rights Day
Dec 10, 2016

December 10th was chosen to honour the United Nations General Assembly's adoption and proclamation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, one of the first major achievements of the new United Nations in 1948.

It’s a very important day to remind us that everyone is equal under the sun, and that everyone should have equal rights, obligations and opportunities, and that each person should be treated with at least basic human dignity – even a criminal.

The most important day in the world is the day when we no longer need Human Rights Day, because by then we would have achieved actual equality for all, and discrimination and mistreatment would be a thing of the past.

Let’s all work towards a better future: one where we won’t fear for our children from neither law nor man, and a future where we know that no matter the color, religion, gender or physical status, our children would be safe in dreaming and steadfast in trusting in available opportunities; in a future where if people do illegal things, they would not be stripped of their human dignity, and the law and prison would be there to reform them and reintegrate them into society -  not to seek vengeance upon them.
